  2. About KFHS The Kashubian Folk High School (KFHS) was organised in 1982. It is part of the Foundation „Kashubian Folk High School”. From its origin the KFHS was undertaking matters of education and culture of the Kashubian and adults on rural areas of the region. In its teaching activities it refers to Grundtvig’s idea of ”School for life”. Main directions of our activities are: Civic educationRegional educationEcological educationInternational cooperation

Discovering the heritage • Communism kills diversity and common memory • The heritage: displaced people (Poles, German, Ukrainians, Lemkos…) • Looking for new regional identity: • Kashubian • Pomeranian; • German - „hanseatic league”/ Gdańsk – Free City • Mennonites Establishment of identity is a long-lasting process, which takes many generations. Therefore in numerous regions of Poland, where the process was interrupted due to the Second World War and the Jalta Treaty, it is imperative to restore and heal the collective memory. Project “Hiking along kashubian cooking” • To activate unemployed cooks and waiters, who had basic skills needed to work, • To master the elements of kashubian culture and tradition and to prepare kashubian meals in hotels and guesthouses. • The programme of training was created by Witold Bobrowski (author of kashubian alphabet for the youngest pupils). • It contained: characteristic of kashubian regional cooking, “kitchen” and table ceramics, kashubian regional outfit, architecture and kashubian utensils, workshops of kashubian traditional cooking and introduction to kashubian language.

Answer • Use of the rich cultural heritage of Pomorskie Voivodeship contributes to development of tourist infrastructure and is essential to increasing the tourist attractiveness of the region. • Pomorskie Voivodeship is an area rich in traditions related to amber trade and crafts. Amber is a material associated with jewellery and health, so it is easy to offer and sell it in many market segments.
