  2. Ever Changing World • Before 1492, the World was Square. • Before 2003, we didn’t have SCC on liquid lines, and ILI was unreliable at detecting it

  3. SCC in Minnesota 3 SCC Ruptures in Northern Minnesota since 1994 2 were on the same pipeline – 8.5 years apart

  4. Over The Years • Have participated somewhat with SCC dig programs • Successful in finding it, but not necessarily the critical SCC • Recent ILI results show promise

  5. What Makes a Good Operator? • Doesn’t mean you can’t have failures • Lead by example • Share information (some better than others) • Understand your system and the safety issues you face, and plan/act accordingly

  6. Information Exchange • Critical to Decision Making • Gives operators a queezy feeling • Establish model approach for consistency • Federal/State Partnership also important

  7. Research Needs • Growth Rates • SCC Coupling with other defects • ILI improvements
