  3. Behavioral Questions Behavioral Questions -questions that require you to give an example or tell a story about your experience Why are these questions asked?

  4. Behavioral Questions Require you to relate a real life experience not theory. Theory questions require you to explain what you would do if in that situation, not what you have experienced.

  5. Behavioral Questions • 2. Why are they asked? Behavioral questions are asked because many employers want to know how you handled a situation, lessons learned or your skill. Employers believe these types of questions are a reliable predictor of your behavior.

  6. Around the World • Cultural Generalization -generalizations describe standards and values that guide the practice. Example: There are many places to take surf lessons in California. Surfing must be popular. Tip: Based on observation, but not how all Californians behave

  7. Behavioral Questions • Behavioral Question Give me an example of a time when you had to manage conflict with a boss or professor? What did you do? What happened? What was the result?

  8. Telling a Story Situation What was the situation? Action What happened? What did you do? Result What was the result?

  9. Behavioral Questions Give me an example when you were not able to complete an assignment or project on time? Tell me about a recent experience you had motivating a team or a group? Tell me of a time when you disagreed with your boss or professor concerning your work.
