What does SPPMD represent? • SPPMD- Council for Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency • A non-governmental organizationrunning a Youth Club, taking part in Youth in Action Programme, organizing diverse events and implementing many projects. • Formed by a group of local EVS volunteers from different ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds. • Non-governmental, non-profit, and non-religious organization

About SPPMD • Founded on May 26, 1996 in Kavadarci, Macedonia. • Main goal is to fight against all forms of asocial and delinquent behavior of the young people in Kavadarci. • The work is divided in two main sectors: 1. the legal one which works on improvement of position of juveniles within the Juvenile Justice system, through changes and improvements of the Juvenile Justice legislation as well as its appropriate further implementation; 2. the youth one, which aims to organize the spare time of young people in Kavadarci and neighbourhood villages, providing them with different opportunities to get involved in various forms of non-formal education and activities.

History of SPPMD • The first activity was to hold tribunes with the mayor and city council of Kavadarci, in order to discuss the issue of juvenile delinquency  good reputation since 1996 , for quality programming and grant management, and known as a leader among NGOs in Macedonia • The first huge national activity was the development of National Preventive Action Plan in1999-2000. This project involved about 6800 youngsters, from 41 municipality. • From 2000-2007 SPPMD has organized the work of the Babylon children and youth center. Here more than 1000 youngsters participate in diverse non-formal activities annually. Now it is a Youth Club, where various of activities are organized for teens from 13-17 years and young adults from 18-35 years.

SPPMD and its members • The management body of SPPMD is its Managing Board, which is consisted of 7 members, only two out of them being over 30 years old. • SPPMD has nine active local volunteers and five EVS volunteers (three long-term and two short-term) all of them between 21 and 30 years old. • Currently SPPMD works with a group of around 150 youngsters from 13 – 19 years old, as well with about 45 young people from 21 – 35 years old.
