What Type of Student Would Be Successful In Taking NCVPS Courses? • have conflicts in their schedule • want to take courses not available locally • are homebound or hospital-bound • are academically motivated and read on grade level • are proficient in written communication • can work independently • are computer savvy and have computer and Internet access • have interviewed and been approved by the school counselor • want to graduate ahead of schedule • need remediation or course recovery • have special circumstances

Distance Learning Advisor Responsibilities • Follow proper pre-enrollment procedures and prepare students for NCVPS • Enter accurate up to date student data in NCVPS • Ensure that students have their own email accounts • Help the students log into their course and meet with them periodically to check their progress • Print the NCVPS calendar for students • Communicate with NCVPS teachers and parents about grades, attendance and participation • Be responsible for administering the learning management system at the school level • Assume the role as the main contact for Guidance Counselors, Administration, Parents and Students • Keep records of registration, attendance, scheduling, progress reports and grades • Read the weekly DLA e-Lerts from NCVPS • Inform the necessary individuals at the school level of any testing modifications for individual students • Make contact with the testing Coordinator to order EOC/CTE tests

Support From The District Office • The Distance Learning Coordinator serves as a liaison between the Distance Learning Advisor and the NCVPS staff members. • Train the school level DLA’s • We are here to help and support you in anything you need to do. • Enroll students • Remove students from the enrollment list • Ensure all DLA’s have access to the NCVPS registration system
