  1. Homework Due Today: *Stamping for your Density Lab Worksheet Warm Up-Monday, August 24 Latisha took a sealed, plastic container of ice cubes out of the freezer. The outside of the container was dry when she took it out of the freezer. She set the container on the counter. She did not open the container. Half an hour later she noticed the ice had melted inside the container. The container was full of water. A small puddle of water had formed on the kitchen countertop, around the outside of the container. Which best describes where the puddle of water came from? A gas in the air Melted ice inside the container Cold on the outside of the container Condensation from water inside the container Water that evaporated from inside the container Cold changed hydrogen and oxygen atoms to water Which statement do you agree with? Explain! Homework: * Density worksheet due tomorrow

  2. Homework Due Today: * Checking for your density worksheet * Please have out your orange science fair packet- I’m collecting it Warm UpTuesday, August 25 Mr. Martinez placed a thermometer in a jar of very hot water. His students watched what happened to the thermometer. Immediately the level of the red liquid in the thermometer went up. His students disagreed about why the red liquid moved in the thermometer when placed in hot water. This is what they said: Jean-Paul: The hot water pushed it up. Pita: The mass of the red liquid increased. Jon: The heat inside the thermometer rises Jimena: The air inside the thermometer pulls it up. Molly: The molecules of the red liquid are further apart. Greta: The number of the molecules in the red liquid increased. Keanu: The molecules of the red liquid are getting bigger. Who do you agree with? Explain your reasoning! Homework: No Homework

  3. Homework Due Today: *No Homework due today Warm-UpWednesday, August 26 Homework: * Finish Chemical vs. Physical Change Worksheet* Science Fair Hypothesis due Friday Two friends put a bowl of very cold water outside on a hot sunny day. The sun warmed the water. They wondered about the energy of the water. This is what they thought. Ted: The very cold water had energy. The sun provided additional energy to warm the water. Ambra: The very cold water did not have energy. The energy in the warm water came from the sun. Who do you agree with and EXPLAIN WHY!

  4. Homework Due Today: Warm UpThursday, August 27 No Accelerated Science due to Block Schedule Homework:

  5. Homework Due Today: *Stamping for your Chemical vs. Physical change worksheet * Science Fair Hypothesis due today Warm UpFriday, August 28 Sarah’s science class is investigating heat energy. They wonder what would happen to the temperature reading on their thermometer if they put the thermometer inside a mitten. What do you think Sarah will discover? The thermometer inside the mitten will have a lower temperature reading that the thermometer on the table. The thermometer inside the mitten will have a higher temperature reading that the thermometer on the table. Both thermometers will have the same temperature reading. Which hypothesis do you agree with and explain WHY! Homework: • No Homework
