  1. Number 3 Note that your mass may be different than the 22 kg in this example.

  2. As soon as you see the word ‘gravity’ in a problem, you should see if you can use the universal gravitation equation

  3. Make sure you plug these numbers into your calculator correctly!

  4. Number 4

  5. Use Universal Gravitation Formula Since they are not giving us values OR units, we can make m and r anything we like. I choose to make them both 1. =1 Note that G drops out because it is the same in both equations. Remember that your radius may be different than the radius in this example.

  6. Use the centripetal acceleration formula times mass Again, remember you can just say m=1 and r=1. m drops out anyway and r2=3 (in this example)

  7. Rearrange your linear velocity (tangential velocity) formula to solve for time so it looks like below. Again, you can set r=1 and 2π drops out, since it’s the same for both planets. This time, though, you’re going to have to use the v you found in part 2 as your v2. v1 is, again, just set to equal 1.

  8. Question 7

  9. Question 8

  10. Remember force of gravity is what we call weight (W).

  11. You probably needed to look up the volume of a sphere formula
