  1. Invention/Inventor Projectfrom 1700’s-1800’s February 13-March 5 3rd qtr. Project

Benchmarks • 8.3.9-Describe how the development of technology in the first half of the 19th century had an impact on American life. • 8.8.1-Explain productivity in terms of output per worker, hour, machine, or unit of land, and its effect on standards of living in 18th/ and or 19th century America. • 8.8.2- Describe the factors that influence production and consumption decisions in a market system.

  3. What is the goal? • You will research and explain how the study of your inventor/invention impacted American life. • You should be able to explain if it had an impact on the American society:Socially, Economically, and or Politically. • You will be able to present your findings to the class orally.

  4. Thinking Maps to be included • Circle Map- All the things you found out about your topic. • Multiflow Map- will show what is needed on ELMO. • Flow Map-Inventors life history (birth-death) • Will show on Elmo in class. • Due date(s) February 27th week

  5. Handouts to be turned in… • Thinking Maps (3) Circle, Flow, and Multiflow • Due no later than the week of February 27th • Needs to be neat and legible. • Make sure you have a copy for yourself. • Industrial Revolution Invention Application • Due no later than the week of March 5th

  6. Presentation • Will present to the class. • Approximately 3-5 minutes cut off at 5min. • You are expected to have a visual. • Either power point or board.

  7. Project Selections • You are able to pick your inventor/ invention • Need to be from specified time period and able to explain impact on American Society. • Need to sign up with teacher. Only one per class. • Groups- 1 or 2 per group. Choose wisely!

  8. Things to turn in… • Thinking Maps (3) • Visual (1) • Bibliography (3) • Handouts given in class (2) • Industrial Revolution Application • Oral Presentation sheet (s)
