Overview of the achievements European Federation for Medical Informatics Association (EFMI) • Activities and Governance • All European countries are entitled to be represented in EFMI by a suitable Medical Informatics Society. • Each national society supports the federation by sending and paying for a representative to participate in the decisions of the Federation’s Council, the membership assembly. • Apart from the Council, an elected board consisting of nine members governs EFMI. • Membership and Organization • EFMI is also open for institutional membership. Overview of the achievements European Federation for Medical Informatics Association (EFMI) • Working Group: EDU - Education • Activities • Dissemination and exchange of information on Biomedical and Health Informatics (BMHI) programs and courses. • Exchange of experiences of how BMHI is taught and to improve the implementation. • Establishment of a database on programs and courses on BMHI education. • Production of international recommendations on BMHI education. • Support of BMHI courses and exchange of students and teachers within the EFMI countries. • Foster the accreditation process of BMHI programs in Europe. • Explore the process of certification of knowledge and skills of users in BMHI • Investigation of the possibility of establishing summer courses organized by the WG EDU • The Membership into the EFMI WG EDU (http://en.hil.nurs.uoa.gr/wgedu.html) is open to all who are interested in contributing, participating and attending the events and objectives of the Working Group. Overview of the achievements International Medical Informatics Association (IMIA) • Membership • Member Societies: In each country only one appropriate body which is representative of activities within the field of medical informatics may become a Member Society.  In an country where no representative societies exist, IMIA accommodates involvement through “Corresponding” members, especially within developing countries. • Institutional Members: • Corporate members include vendor, consulting, and technology firms as well as national professional organizations. • Academic members include universities, medical centres, research centres and like institutions. • Affiliate Members: International organizations that share an interest in the broad field of health and biomedical informatics. Overview of the achievements Established joined projects • Danube Medical Informatics Network (DMIN). • Preparation of joint proposals for Horizon 2020. • Partners: UMIT, Assist Software SRC in Suceava (Romania), IMTM and UHEI • Research project in the field of the EU-Societal Challenge 1 “Health, demographic change and wellbeing”. • Funded by the German Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF, grant no. 01DS18002). • Aims: • Conduction of workshops to establish the network. (14.- 16. May, Heidelberg) • Analyses of local regulations for data sharing. • Development of recommendations for metadata structures in biomedical research projects.
