  1. Project: American or Canadian literature The adventures of Huckleberry Finn Langová Tereza Šramarová Pavlína

  2. Genres and authors in American or Canadian literature J.F. Cooper – The Last of Mohicans – Adventurous novel E. Hemingway – The Old Man and the Sea – Nouvellete E. A. Poe – The Raven – Poem W. Styron – Sophia‘s Choice – Imaginative literature I. Levin – Stepford Wives – Comedy, Sci-fi

  3. My choice Name: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Author: Mark Twain Publisher: Longman Published: England, 2000 Reason why we have chosen this book: We wanted to read the book Sophia‘s choiceAt first , but this book isn‘t in our school library, so we have chosen Mark Twain‘s book. Book is good for Maturita exam too.

  4. Author Mark Twain‘s real name was Samuel Clemens. He was born in Misouri in America in 1835. Adventurous genreis typical for his books . The most popular books that he wrote were The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Prince and the Pauper. Mark Twain has died in 1910.

  5. Language I got from the reading – key words and phrases Glad = potěšen Steamboat = parník Backyard = dvorek, zahrádka Itch = svědit Hiding place = skrýš Excitement = vzrušení

  6. Quotation The next morning, I felt bored. I looked trough the clothes from the house and found eight dollars in an old coat. I wanted to go into town with the money for some excitement. ‘Be careful‘ Jim said. ‘Everyone in town knows you. They think you‘re dead. Why don‘t you take those old clothes and dress like a girl?‘ I found a dress that was my size and a girl‘s hat. I put them on. Then I practiced walking and talking like a girl. ‘You look really good,‘ Jim said. ‘But you don‘t walk like a girl‘ Další ráno jsem se nudil. Potom jsem začal trénovat holčičí chození a mluvení. ,,Vypadáš dobře“ řekl Jim, ,,ale nechodíš jako holka.“ We choose this quotation because it is funny and main hero is happy there.

  7. What we did not know before reading a book We didn´t know that very small child like Huck can be so brave. We didn´t know that someone can survive without modern technologies like washing machine, mobile phone, atc. We didn´t know that someone can be so creative (as Huck and Jim) that he can survive outside his home.

  8. Comparsion of me and hero from the book Tereza compares herself with main hero Huck. It is very difficult to compare myself with small boy. Huck is about 150 cm tall and he has short hair. He is brave and friendly. He can hunt wild animals and he can survive in bush. He loves his friend Jim and he helps him. I am girl so it´s normal that I would never be so brave as the main hero from this book. But I have some similar qualities. I like adventure and freedom, I am friendly and helpful as he. Pavlina compares herself with Jim. I think that I am so careful like Jim. I think I am friendly and faithful friend like a Jim too. My friends are everything for me and I can say it is the same character which Jim have. But it is a really one mainly difference between me and Jim. I am not an afroamerican and I am not a slave.

  9. “If I were…,I would/would not…“ • If I were Huck I would never escape from my home. • If I were Jim I would be very happy that I become free. • If I were Huck I would be very happy that I have as good friend as Jim.

  10. Recommendation • We have found this book very interesting. The plot was thrilling. We weren´t bored when we were reading this book. We would like to recommend the book to everybody who loves adventure and strories from the true life.
