  2. Teaching objectives: • 1. to help students discuss the different styles of negotiations; • 2. to enable students write meeting reports; • 3. to help students improve their communicative abilities.

  3. Section A • Task 1 Bobo is a world-famous TV character who appeals to children and adults alike. You work for Bobo International Merchandising (BIM), a company that produces goods based on the Bobo characters. Read the email from your director and the flyer about Bobo products. Then discuss the questions opposite.

  4. Task 2 Discuss these questions: • Why are characters like Pingu, Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny popular? • Why do you think characters like Bobo are popular with adults as well as children? • Who is your favorite characters? Do/Would you buy things with his/her logo on?

  5. Section B • The class is divided into three teams. Each team should work in a separate area of the room. • Task 1 Each team has a different task. Hold a brainstorming meeting to come up with ideas.

  6. Task 2 You have received this agenda from head office. Read it through and decide what your team is going to say at each stage of the meeting-and/or think of questions to ask. One representative from each team will attend the meeting.

  7. Section C • Task 1: Form groups of three with a member from Team A, B and C in each. Decide who will chair the meeting.

  8. Task 2: After the meeting, discuss these questions as a whole class: • What did you find difficult about the meeting? • Did you manage to have your say? If not, why not? • What would you do differently if you had the meeting again?

  9. Section D (P105; 10.3) • Listen to the recording and answer the exam questions. After you have listened once, play the recording again. • Recording 36
