  2. Project Overview • Overall project objective is to improve the temporary hiring process. • From May 2006-October 2006 the first phase of this project was completed which resulted in a common understanding of business requirements between Human Resources and the Office of Student Employment.

Project Goals • Direct data entry at the source to reduce processing time • Direct updates to the system with edits and alerts for the department administrator (i.e. No I-9 on file, work study job approvals) • Ensure the end product is user friendly for all parties involved – Students, Units, Student Employment Office and HRRIS • Develop a paperless process for temporary employment • Eliminate unnecessary routing steps • Faster paychecks to student temporaries • Streamline the hire process for the majority of our temporary workforce

Phase II • Phase II will address Ann Arbor student employment with 80% of the temporary hires being students • Develop a UM student employment application in M-Pathways accessed through Wolverine Access Student Business • Develop new M-Pathways operational page for department administrators to hire Ann Arbor student temporary employees – add new empl rcds and rehire on terminated empl rcds • Existing batch toolkit/processes for salary changes and terminations • Future workflow functionality for ShortCode changes

  6. Possible Future Phases • Non-student temporary hires • Temporaries hired through Temporary Staffing Services (TSS) • Batch loading for multiple hires • Flint/Dearborn process improvements

  7. Implementation • Committed to a timeline that will improve Ann Arbor student temporary hiring process by Fall 2007 • Future Phases TBD
