  2. Students • should interact with each other as well as work independently, just as adults do.

  3. Students • should apply math to real life problems that are complex.

  4. Students • should learn formal algorithms and apply those in problem situations.

  5. Students • should seek a best solution among several solutions to a problem. Students should be able to defend their choice and explain the different ways they reach viable solutions.

  6. Students • should be communicating mathematical ideas to one another through examples, demonstrations, models, drawings, and logical arguments.

  7. Students • should help each other learn.

  8. Students • should use a variety of resources including, but not limited to, the textbook.
