  5. To ADD decimal numbers: STEP 1: Align the decimal points. “Line up the soldiers!” STEP 2: Include the invisible zeros. “Fill in the blanks!” STEP 3:Add each column of digits from right to left. STEP 4: Place the decimal point in the answer directly below “Put a decimal point – at the bottom of the t-a-n-k!” 123. + 0.179 + 43.5 = 123. 000 0.179 43.5 00 + . 166 679
