  1. Proposed text for Section 6.5 of 5 Criteria Colin Lanzl Aware, Inc. clanzl@aware.com Colin Lanzl, Aware Inc.

  2. Section 6.4 Requirements 6.5 Economic Feasibility For a project to be authorized, it shall be able to show economic feasibility (so far as can reasonably be estimated), for its intended applications. At a minimum, the proposed project shall show: a) Known cost factors, reliable data. b) Reasonable cost for performance. c) Consideration of installation costs. Colin Lanzl, Aware Inc.

  3. 5 Criteria Section 6.5: Economic Feasibility • We have text, but doesn’t address all the bullet points needed • We’re a little fuzzy on reasonable costs • All the necessary words are there, they need to be re-organized and slightly emphasized Colin Lanzl, Aware Inc.

  4. Proposed Text, part a Support of the proposed standard will probably require a manufacturer to develop a modified radio, modem and firmware. This is similar in principle to the transition between 802.11b and 802.11g or between 802.11b and 802.11a. The cost factors for these transitions are well known and the data for this is well understood. Colin Lanzl, Aware Inc.

  5. Proposed Text, part b The new standard will provide manufacturers the option of supporting higher throughput. In general, the cost factor changes needed to implement the extensions envisioned by the study group are well within the capabilities of existing technology. Competition between manufacturers will ensure that costs remain reasonable. Colin Lanzl, Aware Inc.

  6. Proposed Text, part c The proposed amendment has no known impact on installation costs. Colin Lanzl, Aware Inc.
