  3. First things first… Perspective – Let’s try to look at this from God’s perspective… Your thoughts-how rare, how beautiful! God, I'll never comprehend them!I couldn't even begin to count them-any more than I could count the sand of the sea. Oh, let me rise in the morning and live always with you! – Psalm 139: 17-18

  4. First things first… Perspective – Let’s try to look at this from God’s perspective… Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb.I thank you, High God-you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration-what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived one day. - Psalm 139: 13-16

Have nothing to do with such people.

Most people don't have a plan. That's why it's easy to beat most folks.” Paul "Bear" Bryant, University of Alabama's Crimson Tide “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” Benjamin Franklin

  14. Session 1 – Wild at Heart

  15. The Image of God “The LORD is a Warrior. The LORD is his name.” Ex. 15:3 Is Jesus like Mother Teresa or William Wallace? What does the bible say about Angels? Is God a risk-taker? What does nature tell us about God’s passions? What does God’s relationship with us reveal about love? “He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11

  16. The Question That Haunts Every Man “The tragedy of life is what dies inside a man when he lives.” Albert Schweitzer Why do we find ourselves more fearful, angry, bored, and lustful than valiant, dangerous, and passionate? When Eve ate from the tree of knowledge, what did Adam do? We are made to come through, but yet we ask “Can I?”, “Will I?”, “Do I have what it takes?” “For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.” Galatians 5:17

  17. The Poser and The Wound “I was afraid because I was naked, so I hid.” Genesis 3:10 Why do men hide? What are examples of the mask… the elaborate fig leaf we wear? (At the office, in the gym, our personality, etc.) The Poser comes out of the Wound Every boy, on his journey to manhood, takes an arrow to the heart, in place of his strength. Every man carries a wound, mostly from his father. Masculinity bestows Masculinity The wound causes us to make a decision about what we will “never” or “always” do as a result. It shapes us.

  18. Battle for a Man’s Heart Society is emasculating males Schools not geared towards males Many churches are tame and boring Everyone is a winner in sports Wives try to domesticate husbands Men are dying at the soul level The enemy has used the wound to keep us in check Most men have never been initiated into manhood We’ve taken the question to Eve Why is Pornography so enticing?

  19. The Father’s Voice / Healing the Wound “Who can give a man this, his own name? God alone. For no one but God sees what the man is.” George MacDonald A wound cannot heal if it is unacknowledged, embraced, or deserved God will then initiate us into manhood, release our masculine heart, by destroying the false-self This is difficult, but… “whoever wants to save his life will lose it” (Luke 9:24) and “it is the son of God who disciplines, therefore do not lose heart.” (Heb 12:5-6 ) Must stop seeking validation from the woman, stop trying to make her come through for you, stop trying to get your answer from her. Your are JUSTIFIED. Choose God first!

  20. A Battle to Fight – The Enemy 3 Enemies: the world, the flesh, and the devil = unholy trinity (all three are usually at work together) Your flesh is not you – “I am not the one doing it; the sin within me is doing it.” (Rom 7:20) Flesh is the false-self, the poser, manifest in cowardice and self preservation – only way to deal with it is to Crucify it! Sabotage occurs when we push true strength down and live the false self (also called a “foothold”) The world – a system built by our collective sin Where do you derive your sense of strength and power from? The devil – has it ever crossed your mind that not every thought is your own? His Strategy – “I’m not here”, “Intimidation & Fear”, “Cutting a deal”

  21. A Beauty to Rescue Our wives, daughters, also have questions: “Am I lovely?”, “Will you pursue me?”, “Do you delight in me?”, “Will you fight for me?” The woman’s wound almost always comes from the father Women don’t need hesitant men. They need a lover and a warrior, not a nice guy. She is being held captive. We need to go after her. She needs and craves words from us. If she is the report card on your strength, you will fail. Love her because that is what you are made to do. Most men want the joys of the beauty without the battle, which is why pornography is a selfish act that brings false-strength

  22. An Adventure to Live God is a warrior, and so are you How are you a poser? Sober self-assessment to identify your wound and start the healing process Let God initiate you and launch a battle for your heart Wear the Armor of God and be prepared for attack (Eph 6:10-18) Stay connected with God (Scripture, Journal, Movies, Books, Music, Still & Quiet, Adventure) Find a fellow warrior(s) to fight alongside, someone to watch your back Seek out the beauty in your life and don’t give up Find what brings you alive, not what you think the world needs

  26. Bible 101 – Why? God Breathed Personal Relationship Defend Grow

  27. Bible 101 – What do we believe? All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. • 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right. It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do.

  28. Bible 101 – What do we believe? Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. • 2 Peter 1:20-21 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophets themselves or because they wanted to prophesy. It was the Holy Spirit who moved the prophets to speak from God.
