  2. History • Ubisoft was founded in 1986 in France, by the five Guillemot brothers. Yves Guillemot^ , made deals with companies such as Electronic Arts, Sierra On-Line and MicroProse to sell their games across France By the end of the 80s, the company had started to expand to the United States, United Kingdom and Germany.

  3. In 1994 Ubisoft opened their headquarters in Montreuil, France. Then in 1996 Ubisoft became a publicly traded company and expanded around the globe, opening offices in Shanghai and Montreal.

  4. In 2000, they acquired Red Stone Entertainment In February of 2001 they acquired Blue Byte Software In March of 2001 they also acquired The Learning Company Entertainment division which gave them the rights to the games such as Myst and Prince of Persia series

  5. Ubisoft concentrated on getting on to online games such as Uru: Ages Beyond the Myst, Matrix Online and EverQuest. But then in 2004 they backed out of the online portion of Myst and backed out the Matrix.

  6. Then they bought Wolfpack Studios, which was the developer of the game Shadowbane.

  7. Ubisoft is famous for their game series Assassin Creed and Just Dance series.

  10. Economic Impact • Ubisoft has helped boost the economy and helped many people find jobs by hiring over 1,700 employees and artists in Montreal.

  11. Ubisoft’s office in Montreal, has become one of the largest in the world. Attracting other gaming companies such as EA games, THQ & Warner Brothers to set up offices in Montreal.

  12. Global Culture • Ubisoft has offices all over the world in such places as Europe, United States, Canada, India, China, Singapore, Australia.

  13. In 2007 Ubisoft became the third independent publisher worldwide (excluding Asia). • When “Just Danse 2” was relesed it sold over two million copies worldwide, even though music based games are declining.

  14. Future Development • Ubisoft plans to further develop their gaming franchise Anno (1404, 1503, 1602,1701) 2070. This game(s) consisted of City-building and Real-time strategy gameplay elements.  

  15. Ubisoft is also planning to invest another 60 million dollars into making videos games for such consoles as Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Already they’ve invested 20 to 30 million to make game for the consoles.

  16. My Personal Opinion • I think Ubisoft is a good company that makes good quailty games. • I think Ubisoft is helping are economy by hiring many graphic artists in Montreal. • They have good games.
