Sexual Rights: The Heart of the Development Matter • Sexual rights are an integral part of human rights • Denial of sexual rights has severe consequences for the wellbeing of women/men and young people everywhere • Gender equality is a human right • Attaining sexual rights for all is an indicator of gender equality and women’s empowerment • MDG3 is both a goal and a tool for achieving all the other goals • Concerning that MDG relating to women’s health has only started receiving attention • Sexual rights are integral to attaining the MDGs and the enjoyment of highest attainable standard of mental and physical health EuroNGOs - 9 November 2010

The Declaration... • Reflects IPPF’s commitment to the rights of all people; encompassing key, vulnerable and often marginalised populations • Recognises the interrelationship between sexual rights and development, freedom, equality and dignity • Has been translated into 24 world languages, 20 can be found at www.ippf.org EuroNGOs - 9 November 2010
