  6. Harris Safety • The safety of our students is our first concern here at Harris. • BERT team is active at Harris. The mission of the BERT team is to ensure that our safety procedures are effective and up to date. Also we address any safety concerns that arise in the building. • In the near future we will be using the RAPTOR system to track visitors in the building.

  7. Visitors • If you come to the building you must come through the front of the building and check in at the office. • In the near future we will be using the RAPTOR system to track visitors in the building.

  8. Dismissal Safety • Please do not park in the bus lane in front of the building. • Do not block the street. • Please be aware that most of our students walk so if you drive to pick up your child be very aware of the students and parents that walk.

  9. New Snack Policy ** Please be advised that according to The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Nutrition Standards no food/ snacks (cakes, cupcakes, donuts, munchkins, carbonated beverages, chewing gum, candy, etc.) of Minimal Nutritional Value (FMNV ) may be brought in for special (student/ classroom) celebrations.**

  10. Uniform Policy • MALE STUDENTS • Bottoms • Solid colored tan or black khaki-style pants or shorts of the appropriate size and properly fitted for the student. No baggy, low-riding or cargo-type pants will be permitted. • Tops • Solid colored blue, white or gray golf-type shirt with collar either short or long sleeve. In cold weather a solid colored blue, white or gray sweater/sweatshirt without a hood may also be worn. All shirts must be tucked in and properly fitted. • Foot Apparel • Dress shoes or athletic shoes shall be permitted at the student’s option. All shoes with laces must be tied. • FEMALE STUDENTS • Bottoms • Solid colored tan or black khaki-style pants, shorts, skirt, or skort of the appropriate size and properly fitted for the student. No baggy, low-riding or cargo-type pants will be permitted. • Tops • Solid colored blue, white or gray golf-type shirt with collar or similar blouse either short or long sleeve. In cold weather a solid colored blue, white or gray sweater/sweatshirt without a hood may also be worn. All shirts/blouses must be tucked in and properly fitted.

  11. Lateness • School starts at 8:40 Please make sure your students are here on time. • Breakfast begins at 8:10 so if your child eats here then they need to be here early enough to eat and get lined up for school with out being late.

  12. Absences • If your child is going to be absent please send them in with a note the next day. If they are out more than 3 days a Doctors note is required. • Please make sure the absence note includes your child's full name, the days they missed, and their grade.
