  1. The Six Eternal Questions! • The little boy walked into the kitchen just as his mother was preparing dinner and started asking her questions, such as “Where did I come from?,” “Why am I here?,” “Who is God?,” “What will I be when I grow up?”

  2. The Six Eternal Questions! • These and other questions have been asked by people since the beginning of time. Even though people sometimes don’t appear to be, interested in who they are and why they’re here they really are.

  3. The Six Eternal Questions! • We want to look at the six most important questions anyone could ask. How we answer these and other questions will determine our eternal destiny. Each one has been answered in various ways over the centuries, depending on who was asking, when it was asked and who was answering it. But the only answers to these questions that really matter are found in the Bible.

  4. The Six Eternal Questions! • Where Did We Come From? • Physical answer • The stork • We evolved from lower life forms • Biblical answer • I came from God - Gen 1:26-27

  5. The Six Eternal Questions! Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Gen 1:26-27

  6. The Six Eternal Questions! • Where Did We Come From? • Physical answer • The stork • We evolved from lower life forms • Biblical answer • I came from God - Gen 1:26-27, 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being. Gen 2:7

  7. The Six Eternal Questions! • Where Did We Come From? • Physical answer • The stork • We evolved from lower life forms • Biblical answer • I came from God - Gen 1:26-27, 2:7 • I have my being in Him - Acts 17:26-29

  8. The Six Eternal Questions! And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; 28for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.' 29Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man's devising. Acts 17:26-29

  9. The Six Eternal Questions! • What Are We? • Physical answer • Human beings • Maybe answered with genealogy of family • Biblical answer • I am a being endowed with moral consciousness - Gen. 3:8; 4:9

  10. The Six Eternal Questions! And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. Gen 3:8 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know. Am I my brother's keeper?“ Gen 4:9

  11. The Six Eternal Questions! • What Are We? • Physical answer • Human beings • Maybe answered with genealogy of family • Biblical answer • I am a being endowed with moral consciousness - Gen. 3:8; 4:9 • Therefore a responsible being - Rom. 14:10-11; Eccl. 12:13-14; 2 Cor. 5:10

  12. The Six Eternal Questions! But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11For it is written: "As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.“ Rom 14:10-11 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. 14For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil. Eccl 12:13-14 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. 2 Cor 5:10

  13. The Six Eternal Questions! • Why Are We Here? (What is Our Duty?) • Physical answer • To be the best person we can • Don’t know • Biblical answer • To hear Christ - Matt. 17:5 • To believe all that He says and obey it - Matt 7:24-29; 28:18-20; Mk. 16:15-16 While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” Matt 17:5

  14. The Six Eternal Questions! "Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." 28And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching, 29for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Matt 7:24-29 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. Matt 28:18-20 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.“ Mk 16:15-16

  15. The Six Eternal Questions! • Why Are We Here? (What is Our Duty?) • Physical answer • To be the best person we can • Don’t know • Biblical answer • To hear Christ - Matt. 17:5 • To believe all that He says and obey it - Matt 7:24-29; 28:19-20; Mk. 16:15-16 • All wrapped up in Eccl. 12:13-14

  16. The Six Eternal Questions! Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, For this is man's all. 14For God will bring every work into judgment, Including every secret thing, Whether good or evil Eccl 12:13-14

  17. The Six Eternal Questions! • Where Are We Going? • Physical answer • No where (when this life over, that’s it) • We come back again (reincarnation) • Biblical answer • The body to the grave; the spirit to God - Eccl. 12:7 • To the judgment - Heb. 9:27 • To eternity - Matt 25:46 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, Heb 9:27 And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life. Matt 25:46 Then the dust will return to the earth as it was, And the spirit will return to God who gave it. Eccl 12:7

  18. The Six Eternal Questions! • What Is Our Danger? • Physical answer • Crime • War • Disease • Biblical answer • To neglect salvation - 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Heb.2:1-3

  19. The Six Eternal Questions! and to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, 8in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power, 1 Thess 1:7-9 Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away. 2For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, 3how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, Heb 2:1-3

  20. The Six Eternal Questions! • What Is Our Danger? • Physical answer • Crime • War • Disease • Biblical answer • To neglect salvation - 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Heb.2:1-3 • To lose my soul - Matt 16:26 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? Matt 16:26

  21. The Six Eternal Questions! • What Is Our Destiny? • Heaven or Hell! (It is our choice!) - Matt.25:31-46; Lk. 16:19-31

  22. The Six Eternal Questions! When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. 33And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. 34Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: 35'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; 36I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' 37Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? 38When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ 40And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.' 41Then He will also say to those on the left hand, 'Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: 42'for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink; 43I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.' 44Then they also will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?' 45Then He will answer them, saying, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.' 46And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Matt 25:31-46

  23. The Six Eternal Questions! • Man tries to answer these questions with a physical answer. Yet man still doesn’t understand the questions. • We have tried to answer the questions Biblically. In so doing, we find that spiritually we have the answers that still confound “wisemen” today.
