Nutrition, Food Technology, Agrobiotechnology and Health Sciences • A cooperative endeavour of four universities: • Wageningen, Maastricht, Nijmegen and Utrecht • (and five research institutes): • VLAG's two major tasks are: • to provide its PhD students with a research and education programme of academic excellence • to provide added value to its programme by funding research projects and by acquiring external funding for large-scale multidisciplinary research projects • See www.vlaggraduateschool.nl

  3. History-NLP’s • 1994 1st edition of European NLP • at this moment 12th edition going on • target group final year PhD’s/young post docs • ‘guests’ from LAmerica, Africa, Asia participated and established their own X-NLP (2006 guests from China/Iran)

  4. History ANLP • 4 editions 2002 – 2005, • 80 participants, good geographical spread • Organisation; • North West University (RSA) • Univ. of Venda (RSA) • Wageningen University (NL)

  5. Successful?? • Azza Gohar (ANLP 2003) now director of Nutrition institute in Egypt • Anna Lartey (ANLP 2002) elected in IUNS Council

  6. Future • 5th edition 1 – 10 November 2006 • 6th edition 18 – 28 March 2008 • extra (shorter) edition prior to FANUS, Quarzazate, Morocco, 7-9 May 2007 • www.africanutritionleadership.org

  7. Not yet enough? • Asia • Also 4 edition between 2002-2005 • 105 participants • 50% Indonesia, 10% from Vietnam, Phillipines, Thailand and Malaysia, rest Lao PDR, Iran, Cambodia
