  2. Committee Mission • The SAME EPHS Committee works with Federal, State and community emergency management officials and disaster relief organizations to develop and improve plans and capabilities to respond to natural and man-made disasters. RHS Committee

  15. EPHS Streamer Goals 1. Principal Criteria: Collaborate and Conduct Outreach Required: 1A) Desired: 1B), 1C) or 1D) A. Conduct outreach to a minimum of three Federal, State, Local agencies and NGOs to provide them copies of the SAME Sustaining Member Directory or equivalent document developed by a Post, and the TISP Resiliency Guide and explain their value. B. Hold a Post Mobilization Readiness Exercise to test the ability of Posts to call up Sustaining Member firms to respond to requests for assistance using the emergency numbers and capabilities contained in the Sustaining Member Directory or equivalent document developed by the Post. C. Participate in a Readiness Exercise. D. Conduct a Readiness and Homeland Security Workshop as a Post or jointly with other SAME Posts or organizations.

EPHS Streamer Goals Principle Criteria: Facilitate Training and Education Opportunities Required 2A) Desired 2B) or 2C) 2A) 3 committee members have completed ICS-100.a (ICS) level training. 2B) 3 committee members complete ICS-200.a (ICS) or ICS-700.a (ICS 700) OR 2C) Three committee members each complete eight hours of training during a calendar year. (Note: These hours can accumulate from taking applicable courses or providing instructional training in the form of a presentation or teaching a course. Course examples include EOC Management and Operations IS-775, emergency management courses, or any other application courses or presentation materials which provide members with readiness and national security training or instruct an audience on readiness and national security issues, respectively.)

Submit for publication to TME (The Military Engineer) or other relevant publication an article on Readiness and Homeland Security. B. Make a presentation on Readiness and Homeland Security issues or best practices to the SAME JETC, SAME regional conference or organization’s conference C. Send a Post Committee member to the TISP Annual Conference or other TISP event

  19. Resources 1B) Mobilization Readiness Exercise Template and Guidelines Obtain the list of Sustaining Member firms for your Post. Locate each firm in the most recent version of the SAME Directory of Member Companies and Organizations. For each Sustaining Member Firm in your Post, determine if they have a 24 hour contact number listed in the Directory. If a firm does not have an emergency 24 hour contact number listed, then ask the Sustaining Member firm POC to update their profile so they list a 24 hour contact number. If a firm has a 24 hour contact number, call the number. Document if you get a response from a live person. Summarize the results in a short report

  21. Resources 1D) Preparing a Post Readiness Workshop The following is an example of the Northern Virginia Post’s Readiness “Sustainability and Security in the NCR” Workshop/Seminar. Seminar Description: The theme for this year’s session is “Sustainability and Security in the NCR”. Recent legislation and new executive orders are dramatically changing the relationships of the federal, state, and local governments, and communities to achieve new sustainability, energy efficiency, and security goals. The future federal, local government, and private sector buildings; transit; and workforce will be dramatically different than today. The seminar will provide an overview of the challenges and potential solutions to come.
