Essential Benefits of Rainwater Harvesting

Rainwater harvesting is the most efficient and simple way in which we can create water reservoirs in cities and towns today. Rainwater Harvesting is a technique of collecting rainwater and storing it for use. The water can be collected from various surfaces such as rooftops and other hard surfaces over which water will run-off. Check out the benefits of the rainwater harvesting.<br>

  1. Essential Benefits of Rainwater Harvesting

  2. Rainwater Harvesting Rainwater harvesting is the most efficient and simple way in which we can create water reservoirs in cities and towns today. Rainwater Harvesting is a technique of collecting rainwater and storing it for use. The water can be collected from various surfaces such as rooftops and other hard surfaces over which water will run-off. Rainwater provides an independent and free water supply that can be used in many ways for everyday life.

  3. Benefits of Rainwater Harvesting Low Maintenance Potable Water Preserve groundwater Reduce Water bills Reduces Flooding and Erosion

  4. Low Maintenance Water is collected from rooftops and hard surfaces and it passes through a simple filtration system before being collected into a tank. The maintenance of the tank is also simple, and the water is fresh hence it doesn't need further treatment.

  5. Potable Water Rainwater is free of several types of pollutants and man-made contaminants such as chlorine. The water that is collected through rainwater harvesting is potable and it can be used for all household activities.

  6. Preserve groundwater Our dependence on ground water reduces when we collect and use rainwater. Using groundwater can be considered only in extreme situations and at that point there will be enough ground water to handle our needs. Digging borewells and deep wells is an expensive process and there is also damage to the environment from drawing out water in this form.

  7. Reduce Water bills Utility bills can be drastically brought down by using rainwater harvesting. There have been instances of apartments collecting water that has lasted them for an entire month's need from a single rainfall thus reducing their utility bills considerably.

  8. Reduces Flooding and Erosion Storm water run-off has been known to cause flooding and soil erosion. Rainwater harvesting directs water into storage facilities thus reducing the amount of water run-off in the open thus protecting the soil.

  9. Rainwater Harvesting - Rural And Urban Areas Rainwater Harvesting can be implemented in both rural and urban areas and provides many benefits to individuals, communities and the environment.
