  4. K-State Honor Pledge On my honor, as a student, I have neither given nor received unauthorized aid on this academic work.

  5. What does this mean for a graduate student? • Individual Research • Library Research • Collaboration • Thesis and Dissertation Work Understand what each of your faculty members expect from you and how to appropriately give credit to anything and everything that is not your own work.

  6. Tips while at K-State • Cultures Vary • Read and seek to understand the K-State culture of academic integrity • From an international student: “Everything you say, you have to put someone’s name and the date and the page….   7. Honor Council • Adjudicating body • Faculty/student representation with more voting students • Serve as case investigators • Serve as hearing panelists • 10 graduate student members

  8. H.I.P.E. • Stands for Honor & Integrity Peer Educators • Serves 2 purposes: • Educate the campus community • Serve as advisors to students coming “through the System” • Graduate component – applications online and at H&I booth following these presentations

  9. Are you a GTA? • Communicate first with your coordinating faculty member. • Give verbal and written expectations. • Use scenarios in explaining expectations. • Report ALL violations where an academic sanction has been given. • Use “Faculty Tips” on web site.
