What Will You Need in High School?

  • Research shows that a specific set of high school courses will help ensure that you have the greatest chance of success after graduation:

  • 4 years of English Language Arts

  • 2 years of a Foreign Language

  • 4 years of Social Studies

  • 4 years of Math

  • 4 years of Science

  • Speech, Health, PE, Fine Arts,

  • and Computer Classes

Become an Eagle Scholar

  • Complete the Recommended High School Program (RHSP) or the Distinguished Achievement Program (DAP) or the International Baccalaureate High School Program (IBHSP) – refer to the 2009-10 Academic Planning Guide

  • Achieve a College Ready standard on the Reading/English Language Arts and Mathematics TAKS test

  • -score 2200 or higher on Reading/ELA

    • -score 2200 or higher on Math

    • -score a 3 or higher on your Essay

  • Achieve the State Passing Standard on the Science & Social Studies TAKS test

  • Develop and carry out an Individual Plan for your high school years and transition to college, the workplace, the military, or some other endeavor of your choosing

  • Complete and submit a College Application

  • Take a College Entrance Exam (SAT or ACT)
