  2. Aim- to review patients sent to HDU/ICU after open elective AAA repair. 4 months May –August 2011 retrospective data collection from National Vascular Database + clinical notes 22 patients identified- 4 excluded as no NVD completed / clinical notes unavailable. Total= 18 patients

  3. Operative severity score. 3 pts operative severity score =12 15 pts operative severity score = 16

  6. 3 complications- 2 LRTI, 1 CVA (predicted morbidity 25.5, 50.2, 62.0%) • 1 mortality – Respiratory – LRTI (predicted mortality 3.6%) (1 mortality in one of the excluded patients- air embolus due to self removed central line)

  7. Future Plans Re-audit for 1 month following centralisation of vascular service in Belfast.
