  5. Statement of Faith – The Apostles’ Creed UMH 881 I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

  6. SHARING OUR PRAISES AND CONCERNS PRAYERS TO GOD THE LORD’S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

  11. Psalm 88

  12. Heman’s Problems • I am overwhelmed with troubles • My life draws near to death. • I am like one without strength. • I am set apart with the dead. • You have put me in the lowest pit, in the darkest depths. • Your wrath lies heavily on me. • You have overwhelmed me. • You have ... made me repulsive. • I am confined and cannot escape. • My eyes are dim with grief. • From my youth I have suffered and been close to death. • Darkness is my closest friend.

  13. Heman believes his problem is caused by God. • You have put me in the lowest pit. • Your wrath lies heavily on me. • You have overwhelmed me. • Your wrath has swept over me. • Your terrors have destroyed me.

  14. How does Heman see his life? • He Believes That He Has No Future. • He Believes That He Has No Friends. • He Believes That He Has No Foundation. • He Believes That He Has No Faith.

  15. Encouragement from Psalm 88 • DON’T STOP PRAYING. • He Prayed Continuously. • He Prayed Emotionally. • He Prayed Intelligently. • DON’T STOP PERSEVERING. • DON’T STOP PRAISING.

  16. Fanny Crosby Oh what a happy soul I am, Although I cannot see; I am resolved that in this world Contented I will be. How many blessings I enjoy, That other people don't; To weep and sigh because I'm blind, I cannot, and I won't.

  17. “I Am Thine, O Lord” CH552

  18. May the Spirit Bind Us Together May the Spirit bind us together as we build this house of faith. One in heart and one in spirit may we grow. May we raise our voices in witness. May our lives reflect Thy grace. One in heart and one in spirit as we go, As we go.
