Definition -:

Opto-electronic sensors are the solid state devices used to detect which effect light beams either interrupting the beam or reflecting the beam back to its source.

Principle of Operation-:

Opto-electronic sensors make use of the physical properties of light sensitive materials. sensors change their electrical features based upon the intensity of light striking the receiver.

  • Optical fiber can also be used in applications such as sensing and measurement besides communication.

  • Fibers have been incorporated into optical systems to detect or measure a wide range of quantities including temperature, pressure, acoustic signals, vibration, rotation, strain, electric current, magnetic fields, fluid flow rate, gas concentration and even X-ray.
