  1. Grow rooms as used in indoor farming

  2. Grow rooms have for long periods been associated with the growth of illicit crops such as marijuana but in essence this genius idea can be used to cultivate any crop that require controlled environment .

  3. These rooms vary in sizes and can be small or even very large rooms where the conditions such as light, temperature and humidity can be controlled. Though grow rooms have been used for illicit activities, they too have helped a great deal in the field of research on crops.

  4. For example researchers investigating various aspects of marijuana have over so many year used grow rooms to grow it for the research purpose.

  5. Using a grow room to grow crops These rooms utilizes lamps that generate a lot of heat hence a ventilation fan is used to supplement the room mechanism of eliminating the excess heat and bring the temperature to a level that is tolerable to the plant.

  6. An individual can chose to use soil or nutrient solutions as medium for growing crops. They thus create chance for use in aerosponics and also hydroponic system artificial lights that are widely used include the High-density discharge (HIDs) sodium-vapor lamps being the most widely used.

  7. Other source of light includes the traditional and the compact fluorescent lamps and the LED grow lights. Electricity, water availability and water supply are some of the essential while constructing a grow room.

  8. Advantages of grow rooms Compared to open farming these rooms utilize both the artificial lights and sunlight although one source of light can be used. Grow rooms allow all year growing of crops.

  9. Some seasons such as winter or during dry weather, cultivation of crops is adversely affected but with grow rooms this uncertainty are eliminated as optimum conditions provided by nature can be replicated in a grow room.

  10. Benefits of a grow room Many individuals have been having good yield hence don’t see the essence of a grow room which most definitely comes with extra cost such as that of electricity. On the other hand some individuals are tired of the quality of yield and the uncertainty in their endeavor to cultivate various crops.

  11. Grow rooms as a package contains the following benefits when compared with open farming. Proper pest and disease control. Open farming is adversely affected by pest and disease outbreaks that leave farmers counting losses.

  12. Most of the diseases that affect crops especially the sensitive ones such as tomatoes are spread by winds. Grow rooms are constructed in a way that wind is barred from finding their way into the room this is done when choosing the right place to construct a grow room.

  13. More yields are achieved. In a grow room the optimum condition required by a plant is provided hence better yields are the results. Modern methods of cultivation such aeroponics and hydroponics system where crops are cultivated in the absence of soil is possible with grow rooms.

  14. In conclusion, grow rooms provide a wide range of benefits when used to cultivate crops. They are also far much efficient and have more advantages compared to open farming which is most of the time laced with uncertainties. For modern farming, grow rooms are the way to go.
