  4. Our Goal The goal is to have all student-athletes work to embody these characteristics. Pride Attitude Sportsmanship Scholarship

  5. Pride Think You should take great pride in the fact you are a student-athlete.?

  6. You are seen as a student-athlete whether you are wearing your uniform, on the field or off.

  7. Pride Think Why does it matter how you act on and off the court/field?

  8. Pride Parents/Friends Future Athletes Kids Remember Integrity is doing what’s right, even when nobody is watching -Jim Stovall Meaning that some one is always watching what you do.

  12. Attitude How do you interact with officials? How about your coaches? Opponents? In support of the team(cheering) While you’re playing? When you’re watching? Does how you treat the game officials matter? Why do fans often behave the worst?

  29. You Should: 1. Positive school yells and cheers in a respectful manner.2. Encouraging those fans around you to join in displaying sportsmanlike conduct.3. Applaud during the introduction of players, coaches and officials and at the end of a contest for all performances from all participants.4. Respectfully responding to decision of officials.5. Shaking hands with all participants and coaches at the end of the contest, regardless of the outcome.

  30. You Should Not: 1. Booing or heckling an official, coach, player or cheerleader. 2. Blaming the loss of a game on officials, coaches and participants. 3. Using profanity or displaying anger that draws attention away from the game. 4. Yelling in a disrespectful manner or to antagonize opponents or officials. 5. Refusing to shake hands or give recognition for good performances.

  33. A Scholarship? Scholarship • Student-Athletes at Albemarle have it tougher than most. Why? • You are still required to maintain your studies. • Do you think grades would on average go up or down during an athletes season?

  34. Scholarship It’s tough to balance it all but your schoolwork must come first. You’ve got to get your work done and there’s not enough time to do it. FIND TIME! On average athletes perform better academically, why?

  35. Scholarship • Plan ahead • Study on the bus • (on the way to contests) • Make time to study • Never use practice or game as an excuse! • Talk to older players about how they manage it • Get help during LEAP • It’s Student-Athlete, • Not Athlete-Student!
