Gate 1a – Design • Design Specification complete • High level test, acceptance, and implementation plans established • PCIP approval • Business case updated – actuals vs. forecast Question to be asked at Gate Does the design meet business requirements? Can it be completed within the constraints set forth in the business case?

Gate 2 – Construction • Detailed test, acceptance, and implementation plans • Draft user, product, and support documentation • Communication and training plans • Business case updated – actuals vs. forecast Question to be asked at Gate Is construction complete? Have acceptance criteria been defined?

  7. Gate 3 – Field Trial • Testing of new solution complete • The solution is ready for full production use • Finalized user, product, and support documentation • Business case updated – actuals vs. forecast Question to be asked at Gate Does the product function as required?

Gate 4 – Warranty Period • Support and sustaining logistics in place • Supporting owners agree solution is complete and can be supported • Final Business case analysis • actuals vs. forecast • Benefits realization Question to be asked at Gate Is the product complete? Does it generate the anticipated benefits
