  1. Welcome to Open House Mrs. Iverson, 7th grade science , social studies and drama Please sign in on the yellow paper at your table.

  2. How can you support your child? • Check my website for assignments, information, science links, quizzes…… • Encourage them to review material-they all have science books at home, notes from daily lessons, lots of vocabulary, including Latin and Greek Root words. • Check their grades on power school….that is how we let you know if they did their homework, how they did on their tests…..

  3. Advisory “Grade” • It is an “effort” grade. • Planner should be completed and signed by a parent. • It is checked every Monday….10 points, 8 points, 6…….. • Please don’t pre-sign the planner • Don’t assume we see any “notes” to us. Email is the BEST way to contact us. • An “F” in advisory will keep your child out of the monthly activity. • Detention

  4. More support suggestions: • Don’t allow your child to be “strategically absent” for tests, projects, etc. • “Due dates” for major projects are “firm.” Electronic issues are not excuses for not turning things in on time. Have your child get projects done early……(good luck with this…..) • Don’t “rescue”, we are trying to encourage responsibility and accountability.

  6. How to help them academically • Re-read science book • Re-read end of section summaries • Use the Workbook to review • Make flashcards of vocabulary terms • Be aware of test dates, (in planner) • Check website and planner for assignments.
