  11. Choice Books • Over the next couple of weeks, you’ll be reading your choice book – either on your own or with the group you’ve decided to work with. • If you haven’t decided on choice book, you need to do so, more or less right away. • Please bring your choice book with you every day! Read Write Speak Listen

  12. Choice Books • Each week we’ll have time to read in class. • In fact, there is about 3 hours of time scheduled to read in class. • That should be enough time to finish your choice book. However, you know better than anyone how long it takes you to read, so plan accordingly. Read Write Speak Listen

  13. Choice Books • When we have reading days, I’ll expect everyone to spend the time reading even if you’ve finished your book. • You could re-read sections of your choice book, or bring a magazine, or choose a delightful short story from my shelves. Read Write Speak Listen

  14. Choice Books • On reading days, I’ll ask you to complete a journal entry about what you’ve read. • These journal entries will be worth 20 points each, so don’t fall behind or blow them off. • If you miss a day, you’ll need to make up the journal entry if you want the points. Read Write Speak Listen

  15. Choice Books • On certain reading days, I may also ask you to discuss the book with your group (even if you are a group of one). • You’ll keep a record of the discussion and turn it in. Read Write Speak Listen

  16. Choice Books • Book project • The final project for this unit will be a poster (or other stunning visual display), similar to what you did for the first choice book. • You’ll have one (short day) of class time specifically set aside for this. Again, you know best how long it takes you to do things, so plan accordingly. Read Write Speak Listen

  17. Homework • Vocabulary exercises due tomorrow. Read Write Speak Listen

  18. Bye! • Come back tomorrow! Read Write Speak Listen
