1. How does your media product represent particular social groups?

2. In my media product there is no particular social group shown. However in my project it could be deduced that males such as in my film shown are more likely to be involved in crime. Also costume shown in the film Jack is seen wearing black clothes tells us there's a dark side of the person, people who commit crimes often wear black to disguise themselves. We carried out research on this and saw in many films this is true. In the extract Jack seems working-class because of the weapons and location is messy and run down, also you can tell through the voice message that he has a restricted vocabulary. Sienna wears a white top which for audience is likely to symbolise purity and innocence. With Jack as the killer the audience will expect this behaviour from men, trying to kill or hurting people based on stereotypes. Audiences see them as capable of doing this. Whereas we cannot imagine a woman trying to do so although changes in media portrayals show them doing so through some films. The age group of the Antagonist and Protagonist is the same which allows more realism for the target audience. In extract is shows young adults roughly 20 years old for both of characters which is close to the target audiences age.

3. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing the product?

4. Throughout my project, I have learnt how to handle a camera and relate the importance of camera shots into this. Last part of filming ‘what we have done to improve’ I gave the idea of camera-shots and filmed them while producer agreed and followed through. Also Jack did editing and was the Director, we helped him but he did most of it because this was his strongest point, for the remaining members of the group it wasn't. I have learnt how to use a blog and upload various items for example uploading pictures using a scanner. It has helped me promote my project it was easy to tell people to see the film for audience feed-back and for them to read up on the progression of the product. Also creating vlogs made it better for viewers and interesting, instead of having to keep reading text and losing concentration, the audience could watch quick updates.Technologies used were computers, phones and a camera. We had to release the film/videos on You-tube accounts via a computer and share this on our Smartphone’s using a popular social networking app called ‘’WhatsApp’’ See here. this drew in a-lot of attention. Additionally we uploaded a behind the scenes video, which gave people insight into our filming process and showed there was humour between our group, keeping our viewers entertained.

5. Looking back to your preliminary task, what do you feel that you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

6. I feel that I have learnt a lot in the time between filming my preliminary task and my final film. I have learnt the importance of choosing location best for a situation/scene in which I want to build up the atmosphere. The preliminary task was a warm-up to remember camera angle shots such as 180 degree rule meaning a basic guideline connecting the characters (in a conversation usually) by keeping the camera on one side of the line of every shot in the scene for first character always frame right, second character framed left of the first camera passing the line called crossing the line. Additionally, I learnt about the editing process that is required. In my preliminary task footage was edited on windows movie maker. I can see the difference between the software used for my final project which was Corel software. Windows movie maker did not have many facilities but Corel did, however my final project was more in depth using various camera shots and needed to be edited more professionally to flow through better but my preliminary task was simple and did not require such precision as it limited shots without much going on. I learnt the basics on the coral software and I had a test trial with our final project, it was interesting but I left Editor/Director Jack to do this. He had more experience using the software than me. In addition I learnt about conventions of films, as I looked at many types of film during my planning ,such as fast cuts which can be seen in our final media product. Furthermore because I had took media from last year in GcseI already had the knowledge which has been expanded this now i can analyze and contribute well. Even though I was weak at some areas my team supported me,Jack and Tanyia are re-sits so they guided me and Freena and I saw how a-level is much harder than Gcse you just need to be organised, not waste time which I'm happy to say we didn't as we got everything completed in time we thought we would. Overall this has been a brilliant experience, I wouldn't change anything also thishas helped me gain confidence, looking forward to next year!
