TIMELINE of WWI

The Treaty of Brest-Litovsk was signed between Russia and Germany.

The war started when Archduke Franz got assassinated.

Start of the battle Verdun.

Britian bombarded Turkish forts in the Dardanelles.

The Treaty of Versailles was signed by the Germans.

USA declared war on Germany!

August,5,1914

This battle went for twelve days. In this battle Germans outnumbered the Belgians. On the following day, 17 August, the German Second Army, together with First and Third Armies, began to implement the next stage of the Schlieffen Plan.Forcing the Belgian army back to Antwerp. Brussels itself was captured without resistance by General von Kluck of the First Army on 20 August.

  • The battle Mons took place at Mulhouse, Lorraine, Ardennes, Charleroi, and, Mons.The British force was suppose to meet up with the French force. The British Force encountered Germans. So they change plans to attack the Germans.The British Commander-in-Chief then undertook an extended retreat French himself recommended complete withdrawal to the coast, although Kitchener, the British war minister, rejected French's suggestion, requiring the BEF to remain in contact with the French forces retreating to the Marne.

  • The attack was intended to straighten the salient opposite Rawlinson's British Fourth Army east of Amiens.When launched on 4th July 1918 with a co-ordinated barrage of tanks, artillery and warplanes, the Australians and Americans found the lines opposite to be only lightly defended, and the attack caught the Germans entirely by surprise.Casualties among the Allies were at the cost of approximately 1,000 men.  In turn the Allies captured some 1,500 German prisoners.
