  1. Routines to be added • Bell ringer. Students will get their science notebooks and write the bell ringer question each day and break it down. • Students will have response sticks ready for feedback for the lesson. • Students will have ready the exist ticket each day. • Students are to reflect on how this connects to their life and community by profiling what they have learned.

  2. Bell RingerDirections: Use the bell ringer sheet. This will be turned in on Thursday for a grade. This should take five minutes and get started. If you do not finish in class take it home. It is a grade.Task: Draw the digestive system from mouth to anus and label the major organs.Task: Draw the four major organs of the excretory system.

  3. Welcome to the Excretory and Circulatory System L.O. Students will demonstrate an understanding of what major organs are in the excretory system and their functions.

  4. Essential vocabulary and functions. Write them as a list. Organs :Kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra, Functions : Filter out cellular wastes, toxins and excess water or nutrients from the circulatory system

  5. Write a brief Function next to each organ. Use your response sticks ( Green light) means I know what to do.

  6. Let’s be specific Excretion applies to metabolic waste products that cross a plasma membrane. Elimination is the removal of feces. ( Digestive) Use the response sticks to give feed back if you understand or not.

  7. DOL exit Ticket • 1. What System does the excretory system work with closely with? • 2. What is the number one thing that the kidneys filter out? • 3. Explain why the blood the cleanest in the morning.

  8. Video • When you hear the essential vocabulary words check them off as you watch the video. • Also listen for the functions listed in today’s lesson. • Quick write these words down. Pump, 4 chambers, oxygen rich, oxygen poor, red, blue, At rest heart rate, and muscle. • This video is on the classroom website for later review. Check it out.

  9. It is time to learn how to take your pulse rate and find your breathing rate. Relax: Take pulse 15 second x 4 Check breath for 15 seconds x 4

  10. Self-DirectedUpdate your Self-Profiling Sheet Instructions: Color in the boxes under C (Covered in Class) and decide if you think you have mastered the understanding which is under M (student mastery)
