Additional INBRE Activities at Furman Instrumentation Acquisition BD FACSORT Flow Cytometer purchased/installed with combined INBRE/FU Matching funds (Hestermann/Turgeon) Instrumentation Support Position Dr. Sandra Wheeler (Analytical Chemist) hired 9/1/05 on renewable 9-month contract (INBRE/FU Match) for BRIN/INBRE instrumentation support and student/faculty training Progress Toward New Hires/Psychology and Chemistry Psychology: Interviews scheduled for two possible positions Chemistry: Three interviews conducted to date for two position openings (Biochemistry and Bioorganic)

FU-INBRE Adjustments to Budget Dr. Moses Lee departure to Hope College as Dean of Sciences Move funding for Lee Postdoc to Petty (YEAR 1) New Hire in Chemistry (Biochemistry/Bioorganic) Redirect funds previously established for Lee to provide competitive package for new hire in chemistry, including start-up, summer salary, release, supplies funding (YEARS 2-4) Academic Year Undergraduate Research Redirect funds ($5,000/yr) to provide for support of undergraduate research students during academic year (YEARS 1-5) Petty/Hestermann potential for salary overlap with R15 Awards Petty receives no INBRE salary support until YEAR 4 Hestermann receives no INBRE salary support after first summer until YEAR 4
