  1. Selection of Projects • The Department’s Stimulus Implementation Team is discussing allocation of funds among several categories, including the following: • Safety projects • Bridges • New capacity projects • Maintenance projects • Enhancement projects • Team includes representatives from FHWA, FTA, ARC, OPB and GRTA. • Now that funding amounts and provisions of Act are clear, we can begin to develop recommendations to State Transportation Board: • Prioritizing project categories • “Scrub” local project lists to document readiness • Prioritizing STIP “shovel ready” eligible projects -- we need MPO feedback on shovel ready projects • Project selections based on proposed criteria, time of delivery, federal eligibility and available funding

  2. Next Steps: • At February 26 Board meeting, will present Implementation Team recommendations on project selection priority categories • With Board feedback on categories, develop potential project lists in approved categories • Continued outreach and technical assistance to MPOs (meeting in early March) • Outreach to stakeholders, legislators, and city and county officials • Recommended project lists will be presented to Board in March • Announce Board action via Web page – www.dot.ga.gov/gastimulus • Monitor and report on each project’s progress and funding
