  2. What is a “mAss Kicker”? 1. noun. Someone who gets an intimidating diagnosis, hears the words “we found a mass in your ____(insert important body structure here)”, and refuses to let it control their life.  2. noun. Friend or family member of a patient dealing with an intimidating diagnosis. They are essential contributors to the mAss Kicking team. www.mAssKickers.org

Mission Statement mAss Kickers Foundation (MKF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which provides support and motivation to all newly-diagnosed patients, family, and friends affected by tumors or cancer.  MKF serves this mission through its website, fund-raising for research, and promoting select events throughout the year. www.mAssKickers.org

  4. mAss Kickers Foundation History • In 2007, Eric Galvez started a group on facebook called “TUMORS SUCK!” to find people that felt the same way about brain tumors.  He found that many people felt the same way about ALL types of tumors.  His friend Susie Ghahremani designed a logo for him to help him express his irreverent attitude towards all tumors.  People started posting pictures of the “TUMORS SUCK” logo. • In 2008, Eric and his friends created the website www.mAssKickers.org and began posting interviews and articles for newly diagnosed patients. • In 2009, mAss Kickers was officially incorporated in CA, USA as a charitable organization; mAss Kickers Foundation. • In 2010, mAss Kickers Foundation attained 501c3 federal tax exemption status. www.mAssKickers.org

What are mAss Kickers Foundation's 4 goals? • Provide unique articles and interviews useful to the newly diagnosed patient and their loved ones on our website. • Promote Unity among ALL cancer/tumor types and between patients and their loved ones through a common "pugilistic" attitude. • Support research through articles, events, and donations. • Empower the newly diagnosed patient and their loved ones with a strategy to become proactive in their care so they feel less helpless after getting intimidating news. www.mAssKickers.org

What does MKF do? • Provide credible articles and links on our website • Promote a pugilistic approach towards fighting ALL types of tumors/cancer • Promote events of other organizations • Host unique events to bring attention to our mission • Encourage all to participate in the “TUMORS SUCK!” awareness campaign, “Use the K.U.R.E.” action campaign, and “Rock Da ‘Hawk” unity Campaign. • Support organizations and individuals leading the way in tumor/cancer research for efficient diagnosis, efficient treatment, improved mortality rates, improved quality of life for patients, and diagnosis specific symptom management. www.mAssKickers.org

(Cont) • Encourage newly diagnosed patients to support research by participating or donating to tumor/cancer related research • Encourage newly diagnosed patients to educate themselves and others in times of uncertainty, • Encourage newly diagnosed patients to seek personal support from family, friends, and other individuals that have walked a similar path. www.mAssKickers.org

  10. Campaigns: (cont)Rock Da ‘Hawk • Show support for someone dealing with an annoying tumor mass by growing a ‘hawk • A facebook page will be created to show pictures of mohawks dedications to loved ones going into “battle” • “WARRIOR APPROACH” to survivorship www.mAssKickers.org

  11. Events - TUMORS SUCK! Paintball Benefit • August 6, 2011 • Hell Survivors Paintball Field, Pinckney MI • Andy Wlodyga, Angel Bureau, and Sean Lapham are primary event coordinators • GOAL:300 participants • Primary fundraiser for MKF www.mAssKickers.org

  13. TUMORS SUCK DAY EVENT 2011 • October 25, 2011 • AT Seau’s the Restaurant • Local businesses donated prizes for a raffle. • Goal: • get 200 people to attend • Charge admission get food+ drink ticket. • Sell raffle tickets www.mAssKickers.org
