  2. What is Bridging Visa A? Bridging visa A is a special category visa it helps you stay in Australia even if your current visa is expired and new visa is under process. The only thing needed before applying for this visa is that you need to apply for this before your substantive visa is expired. You cannot leave Australia if you are bridging visa A holder.

  3. Why we need to apply for bridging Visa? Bridging visa works like a bridge between the current visa and visa which is in process mode. If you don’t apply for the bridging visa you become an unlawful citizen for a period till your next visa arrives and being an unlawful citizen you can face some serious issues like:- • If you are a permanent resident visa holder soon and if you want to avail Australian citizenship you cannot do that as you are an unlawful citizen for a certain period of time. • If your next visa application is rejected and you leave the country and you apply for other visas from outside Australia you may face exclusion period.

You and your family members can submit a bridging visa and substantive visa application together but each family member of yours need to meet their own bridging visa requirements. The family members include:- • You and your partner • You and your partner dependent child. • Any other dependent family member.
