  2. Overview The Library Media Center (LMC) contains a wide range of print and non-print materials chosen to enrich the curriculum and answer the needs of the varied interests of students and staff.

  3. Hours of Operation • The LMC is open from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Friday. • Staff is available to answer questions, locate materials, and assist students in using the resources.

  4. Rules and Procedures The LMC is to be used as a quiet area for research, reading and other appropriate activities. In order to ensure that everyone enjoys the opportunity to work and study in quiet surroundings, students must follow ALL school guidelines established for appropriate behavior. NO personal electronic devices (cell phone, iPods, etc.) are permitted to be seen or used in the LMC. NO Food or Drinks are permitted in the LMC.

  5. Signing In • All students must present a written pass from a teacher to use the LMC during a class or study hall. Upon entering the LMC, students must sign in on the attendance form specifically designated for that period. Failure to do so will be recorded as a “cut.”

  6. Checking out Books • Students must present their West Orange High School ID card to borrow materials. • Additional materials may be borrowed through inter-library loan.

  7. Circulation • Overnight (1 Day): • DVDs • Magazines • Reference Books • 28 Days for Books (General Collection) • Reserve books circulate for a loan period stipulated by the teacher. • Additional materials may be borrowed through inter-library loan.

  9. Overdue Items Students may not borrow anything if items are overdue or if a fine is owed.

  10. Lost Book • If a book is lost, the student is charged the late fine and the replacement cost. • If the material is found, the replacement cost is refunded.

  11. Lunchtime Regulations • Lunch time use of the LMC requires a pass issued by the Library Media Specialist before the first lunch period each day. • Students may not bring any food or drink into the LMC.

  12. After School Guidelines • Students who need to use the LMC after school for research must report and sign in by 2:45. Students must remain working quietly until bus passes are issued. • For arrival AFTER 2:45, a student must have a hall pass AND a late bus pass from a teacher.
