  • Be conscientious in following GaPSC/NCATE guidelines, protocols and timelines

  • Follow the process, as designed, to assure that we have as much reliability and validity as possible

  • When in doubt, ask your assigned GaPSC Education Specialist

  • See things through the eyes of the unit, and the other BOE members

  • Say, “Let’s go!” and lead the way

  • Laugh at yourself

  • Have a humble spirit

  • Be a benevolent task master

  • Keep the process moving and hold your team accountable for their time.

  • Ensure that the institution/agency gets a fair and thorough review

  • Help inexperienced BOE members through the process

  • Take time to listen

  • Be approachable

  • Establish culture where questions are encouraged

  • Reassure team members that they are doing a good job

    • Organization is imperative. Be prepared and have a plan in place to complete the work in the given time period.

    • Be proactive! If you encounter any team member not meeting your expectations, deal with it.

    • Manage your time, manage your time!

    • Communicate with the unit head continuously, nothing should be a surprise.

    • Be flexible!

    • Preparing for training includes these pre-training activities:

      • Reviewing this introductory module

      • Meeting electronically with your co-chair and GaPSC Education Specialist to plan for the Electronic BOE Team Meeting

      • Reading the host IHE/Agency Institutional Report, selected Program Reports & related evidence

      • Leading with your co-chair a simulated, electronic BOE Team Meeting (TBD)

    • Training is a 3-day, on-site session to include:

      • Simulations/Interviews

      • Large group presentations

      • Small group discussions

      • Cadre Meetings

      • Question/Answer Sessions
