NFPA 472 – 2008 Edition Requirements • Chapter 5 – Core Competencies for Operations Level (essentially 2002 edition Operations Level) • Chapter 6 – Mission Specific Competencies for Operations Level (AHJ to select appropriate) • Firefighter I certification must include Chapter 5 and Sections 6.6 (Product Control, which includes PPE) • Standard/Level Codes are entity driven, whatever appears on your certificates will also be in database • Same fee for all combinations of Ops Levels

NFPA 1001 – 2008Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications Section 5.1 • Section 5.1 - Fire Fighter I must meet: • general knowledge requirements in 5.1.1 • general skill requirements in 5.1.2 • competencies in Chapter 5 of NFPA 472 (2008) • section 6.6 of NFPA 472 (Product Control) (section 6.6 includes the PPE requirements in 6.2) • Skills maintenance requirement • Specific knot-tying requirements as required by the authority having jurisdiction • Inspection and public education requirements are in Chapter 6

NFPA 1005 - 2007Standard for Professional Qualifications for Marine Firefighting for Land-Based Fire Fighters • 1.1 Scope • This standard identifies the minimum job performance requirements for land-based fire fighters responsible for firefighting operations aboard commercial/military vessels over 50 feet involved in fire, that call at North American ports or that are signatory to the International Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) agreement. • Next edition 2012

NFPA 1006 – 2008 Edition Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications • Provisions for an operations level for each of the disciplines • The levels are titled Level I and Level II to match all other Professional Qualifications Standards • Subject areas of “water and subterranean” are separate, i.e. Surface Water, Swift Water, Dive, Ice, Surf, and Mines, Tunnels and Caves • Certification and user entities can choose which specific areas to certify individuals

NFPA 1021 – 2009 EditionStandard for Fire Officer Professional Qualifications • Skills maintenance requirement (directed by TCC) • “Certification” was replaced with “qualification” for conformity with all documents in the Professional Qualifications project. • Revision of the duty statements in chapters 4, 5, and 6 as they relate to inspection and investigations.

NFPA 1026 - 2009Standard for Incident Management Personnel Professional Qualifications • Identifies minimum qualifications for persons serving in the various positions in the IMS system • Written to the NIMS IM system at Type III, which has been determined to be the transition between strictly local incidents and those identified as Type I or II (major events on a national scale)

  18. NFPA 1033 - 2009Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator • Added a skills maintenance requirement (directed by the TCC) • Added annex material to clarify that the standard applies to all fire investigations not just structural fires

NFPA 1035 - 2005Standard for Professional Qualifications for Public Fire and Life Safety Educator • Proposed name change to NFPA 1035: Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire and Life Safety Educator, Public Information Office, and Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist • Proposed re-write of the chapter on the Public Information Officer • Proposed re-write of annex material for the job descriptions for the P.I.O and the J.F.I.S. I and II • Added a skills maintenance requirement (directed by the TCC) • Proposed addition of some sample worksheets for the P.I.O to use when completing their assigned tasks. • Added updated several of the informational resources within the document. • Comment closing date is March 6, 2009 • Next edition date 2010

NFPA 1037 – 2007 EditionStandard of Professional Qualifications for Fire Marshal • Menu approach like 2002 and 1006 • Identifies core competencies and provides direction for allowing a jurisdiction to identify which areas the Fire Marshal may be responsible for, and to address those areas • In the case of a stand alone person who may be the Fire Inspector, Fire Investigator or Public Life Fire Safety Educator – that they meet the qualifications of those documents • F2011 revision cycle • Next edition is 2012

  23. NFPA 1061 – 2007 EditionStandard for Professional Qualifications for Public Safety Telecommunicator • Committee added a new chapter for the position of Public Telecommunicator III • Next revision of the document is F2011 cycle • Cover date 2012

NFPA 1071 - 2006Standard for Emergency Vehicle Technician Professional Qualifications • Next edition is 2011 • Addition of a skills maintenance requirement (directed by TCC) • Proposed changes were made to make the proposed new edition consistent with the performance requirements of NFPA 1911. • In this edition, the committee added a new chapter for Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) III, which is the first level supervisor • Updated entire text to reflect the advances in technology.
