  6. What is Smart Beam ?

  7. D-Link SmartBeamTM Technology • Multiple-element antennas can have different combinations switching to reach the optimal performance. • Reduce interference levels and transmit the signal in the direction of the particular users. • Auto selecting the antenna composition based on connected Station traffic quality according to “Packet Error Rate”, “Received signal” and “throughput”.

  8. SmartBeamTM-What makes it Smart? The D-Link Smart BeamTM technology can differentiate the desired, and undesired signals (interferences) such as 2.4GHz cordless phone, wireless cameras and microwave ovens, and alternatively focus on the conversations at a time. 2.4GHz cordless phone Desired User 1 Interfering User 2.4GHz wireless Camera Desired User 2

  9. The advantage of SmartBeamTM • Extend the coverage • The D-Link SmartBeamTM system can automatically optimize its reception pattern and maximize the signal gain toward to the desired users to reduce the dead spots and extend the link range. • Interference Mitigation • The system can select the “best” antenna composition to provide the service in a specific direction. • This minimizes the co-channel interference and improves the SNR (signal-to-interference ratio) of the received signals effectively by avoiding sending the signals to the undesired users. • Power Efficiency • The system combines the inputs to multiple elements for more power gain and utilize the signal strength to prevent from wasting energy.

  10. The scenario of Smart Beam

  11. DAP-1525 Use Case • The end users can easily set up the wireless networks in multi-room • and multi-floor for various services at their house with DAP-1525. • Reliable performance and coverage for full house !

  12. DAP-1525: A pair for better compatibility! • AP or Bridge ? The DAP-1525 can be paired for perfect interoperability! • Dead spots? With DAP-1525, just enjoy the seamless • coverage! With a pair of DAP-1525, good for compatibility!

  13. The Performance

  14. Performance - Noise Suppression • Test environment: • Office (about 7000 square feet) • DUT (AP) in association with STA2 • DUTs: (AP) • DAP-1525 with Smart Antenna • 4dBi dipole antenna solution • 2dBi dipole antenna solution • Test Set-up: • The Interference AP is 2.2M around with STA1; and The DUTs are associated with STA2.

  15. Performance – Noise Suppression

  16. Performance Comparison- D-Link v.s Ruckus • Environment: • Office environment at 7 locations with different ranges. • Test in different floors (4th Floor  5th Floor) • UDP throughput test • DUTs: • D-Link DAP-1525 AP mode v.s DAP-1525 Bridge mode • (4dBi antenna gain) • 2. Ruckus 7811 AP v.s 7111 Adaptor (7dBi antenna gain)

  17. Performance – UDP Throughput comparison • Summary: Compared to Ruckus, DAP-1525 performs better in most locations and across-floor environment. • (P.S. This is an very initial test result with beta firmware. The result may be subject to change in later report.)

  18. The Summary • In terms of the above test results, it is obvious to see the DAP-1525 with D-Link SmartBeamTM antenna is able to : • Increase almost 50% throughput more in a single client connection, with interference STA around. • For media streaming application, D-Link DAP-1525 can provide very competitive connection performance and quality compared to other solutions ! • Able to provide better vertical coverage (across-floor) more than dipole antenna solutions and Ruckus !

  19. Features of DAP-1525

  20. Plug-n-Play for new QoS experience! • Port-based QoS allows the users to directly connect to the specific Ethernet port based on their preferred priority of services. • The user can simply plug into the LAN port to activate QoS ! Uplink port High priority Low priority Medium priority

  21. Port-based QoS- Better bandwidth control • The DAP-1525 QoS mechanism can guarantee the quality of the specific services (such as real-time multimedia streaming and voice) at a certain level in a limited network capacity based on connected port priorities. LAN Port 1 High Priority IPTV LAN Port 2 1000 Mbps IPTV Skype phone Medium Priority Skype phone LAN Port 3 Data • Typical DSL Bandwidth : • Downlink: 3-6Mbps • Uplink: 384kbps-1Mbps Data Low Priority GIGABIT ETHERNET

  22. Guest Zone for better security ! • The guest zone provides the separate zone with different • SSIDs for guest users to access the Internet. • The host users can set the security and encryption levels for • each zone. • The connectivity can be permitted or prohibited between host • and guest zones depending upon host users. Host User SSID Internet Guest User SSID

  23. DAP-1525 Selling Point

  24. Unique Selling Point WIDER! • Full-house Coverage • Double Wi-Fi Range ! • Optimize the available power gain for longer range FASTER! • Reliable Performance • 50% higher transmission speed ! • Selectable Dual band N for less interference Share& Quality! • Multi-media Application • Enhanced QoS for reliable bandwidth • Files, photos and media contents sharing via USB port

  25. Product Characteristics • Dual-Band Selection • Selectable dual band N for more choices. • Clean 5GHz Band for Less Interference GIGABIT ETHERNET • Gigabit Ethernet • High speed wired connection for multi-media streaming • Energy Efficient Ethernet function for power saving • Range Boosting • Built-in D-Link Smart BeamTM multiple antenna design • At least double coverage than dipole antenna DOUBLE COVERAGE • Enhanced QoS Engine • Service priority and bandwidth control by physical ports • Easy Plug-n-Play via directly connecting to the specific port PRIORITY BY PORT
