**1. **Electromagnetic Spectrum Foldable

**2. **To begin…. Take a blank piece of unlined paper
Fold it like a hotdog with a flap of about 1 inch on the top
Divide the flap into twelve equal sections, about one inch each
You can fold the paper, instead of measure

**3. **On the flap… Make lines on each measured section
On the flap, write the wavelengths in m
10-16, 10-14, 10-12, 10-10…………until you run out of lines

**4. **Open the flap…. On the same lines, but hidden by the flap
Write frequencies
1024, 1022, 1020, 1018……..until you run out of lines
The lines should have frequency and wavelengths that are equal on them
10-16s-1* 1024m= 3.0*108m/s

**5. **On the leftover space inside… Put your formulas
E = h(m)
E: energy (Joules)
h: 6.626 x 10-34 Joules/Hz
- m : frequency (Hz or 1/second)
?(m) = c
? : wavelength (meters or centimeters)
- m : frequency (Hz or 1/second)
c = 3.0 x 108 m/s or 3.0 x 1010 cm/s

**6. **Also on the inside…. Put the wavelengths for visible light
Red- 650nm
Orange- 590nm
Yellow- 570nm
Green- 510nm
Blue- 475nm
Indigo- 445nm
Violet- 400nm

**7. **On the outside of the flap… Write the types of electromagnetic radiation with their corresponding wavelengths
Gamma- typically < 10-12 m
X-ray- 10-9m -10-12 m
Ultraviolet- 400x 10-9m - 10-9m
Visible- 750 – 400x10 -9m
Infrared-10-3m – 750x10 -9m
Microwaves- 187 - 10-3m
Radiowaves- >187m
