  3. What is pumpkin? • Pumpkins are members of the gourd family. They are related to melons, cucumbers and squashes. • Fruit, not vegetables.

  4. What is pumpkin like ? • Pumpkins have firm flesh, seeds in the center and a shell that is usually orange. seeds flesh shell

Form: The pumpkin varies greatly in form, being sometimes nearly globular, but more generally onlong(长方形的、椭圆形的) or ovoid(卵形的)in shape. • Rind:The rind(surface)is smooth and very variable in colour. • Weight: The larger kinds acquire a weight of 40 to 80 lb (磅) (18 to 36 kg) but smaller varieties are in vogue(popular)for garden culture.

So he was sent to hell. But down there he played tricks on the Devil (Satan), so he was kicked out of Hell and made to walk the earth forever carrying a lantern(灯笼).

  16. The World Record Falls! In the annual event, the world record has fallen once again this year. The largest pumpkin ever grown stands at 1,469 pounds. It was grown by Larry Checkon of North Cambria, Pennsylvania
