Visual Health Major Task • Preventive measures are taken to either prevention or delay the occurrence of myopia , and to reduce the rate of high myopia. • To promote vision health, children five years thoughtout the country are screened for strabismus and amblyopia . Reduce the rate of myopia, strabismus and amblyopia Community service network • Ophthalmologists volunteering for community service will be organized in a network to promote education, counseling, treatment, and re-examination for vision health. • Has drafted “Visual Health Act”, to integration of resources for eliminating avoidable blindness “Visual Health Act”,

Hearing Health Major Tasks • Expand newborn hearing screening services by hospitals and clinics • Promoting hot line services for newborn screening and hearing health education • Holding newborn hearing screening conference • Following up positive cases and treatment for abnormality • Planning to set up hearing screening registry and notification system • Training more professionals • Scientific research and evaluation

Community To setup Adolescent Health Clinics There are 47 hospitals established. Society To establish Young Website (www.young.gov.tw) An online FAQ for teenagers.

  8. Health Promoting Schools (HPS) in Taiwan • 2004: Cooperation Declaration Signed by Minister of Education, Department of Health, City Governments, Teachers, and parents to implement HPS ,48 schools participated HPS. • 2005: Established 4 years national Program ,318 schools participated HPS.
