  5. Is the free anti-virus software good enough? If it is enough, why do people pay for a anti-virus software? Let’s compare free vs fee anti-virus softwares

  6. Why do people use free antivirus? • It's a free world out there. • Free maps • free navigation • free text messages • free calls on the Internet • free email • free apps for smartphones

  7. Example of FREE! antivirus • Some SOLID and reputable antivirus programs for Windows machines: • Avast Free Antivirus • Avira Free Antivirus • AVG AntiVirus Free • Bitdefender Antivirus Free Edition • Norman Malware Cleaner • And many more • Microsoft itself even offers Microsoft Security Essentials for Windows Vista and Windows 7! • — but should you trust your digital security to a free program?

  8. Free antivirus typically offers: THE MOSTBASIC. • Generally offer no telephone technical support. • This can be a deal-breaker for any small business, or a family with multiple computer users. • Free programs don't, as a rule, offer parental controls. • that can keep kids off inappropriate sites or warn them about cyberstalking and bullying. • Includes advertising. • This can be negligible, • but ceaseless pop-up boxes pestering you to sign up for the paid version of whatever you're using can be quite distracting. • The primary differences between the free and pay products comes down to these features • some of which can be extremely important – and ease of use.

  9. Paid antivirus typically offers: ADVANCED FEATURES. • Enhanced Firewall Prevent hackers to access the data stored on computer • Turbo scan Designed to shorten scanning times • Technical Support Telephone support is available, 7 days a week - 365 days a year. • Smart Scanner Only scan the computer when user not using it.

  12. Free anti-virus software Paid anti-virus software • very basic level of protection • lack of technical support • Firewall not available • Advertisement • Scanning time is long • slows down computer • Designed for advanced user • Higher level of protection • Additional features such as parental control • Firewall provided • Scanning time faster and won’t slow down computer Example : AVG turbo scan Compare them side to side

  13. Conclusion • Paid is more suitable for parents, schools, organizations and any individual who is willing to spend on their PC security. • For the rest of us, most of the free packages are sufficient. • Some is happy with Windows Essentials alone!
