  4. What you NEED to know • What to do BEFORE you upgrade • How to improve your chances of a successful upgrade • What to do if the install fails or does not complete successfully • Testing your applications • GDI+ patch information

  5. What you NEED to know (cont) • What to do BEFORE you upgrade • Make sure O/S is completely up to date, incl. all Microsoft patches and fixes. • Make sure you have a “PERFECTLY” clean machine. No viruses, trojans, key loggers, spyware, malware, etc • Up to date versions of Spybot, Ad-aware, and your virus software. • SP2 CDROM or broadband Internet connection. • Backup your data!

  6. What to do BEFORE you upgrade (cont) • Make sure you have enough free disk space (1.8Gb minimum) • Consider creating a System Restore Point • Backup your data • Backup your data • Pray

  7. Improve Chances of Success • See previous slide!! • Turn off screen savers, automatic updates, virus protection software, etc. • Install SP2
