  2. ABOUT THE HAMMAM The hammam was the place were pashas, judges or viziers used to go, like in the 15th century, in the GalatasarayHammam. In the last centuries, mothers were sometimes taking a look on the girls of the city or the village to find the perfect wife, who could match with their sons. The tradition was also to go there before a wedding or for the bachelor party. Galatasaray Hammam was built in 1481. It is located in a very popular avenue, Istiklal Avenue in Istanbul. There are two sections. Men’s hammam is the Women’s hammam was built in 1963 while the hammam is rebuilding. Step by step, with the improvement of the way of life, hammam quite stopped to be a social meeting point for Turkish people, who have now everything at home, and became the tourists’ paradise. Lots of tourists come Istanbul to use this hammam. So just relax on the steamy, heated marble platform beneath the structure’s ancient dome.
